Much of theres Cassini‘s work concerns nature – plants, and what people create with them. Here she shows the vivid colors of blooms photographed as they thaw slowly after being frozen.
Art historian Brigitte Borchhardt-Birbaumer calls these sensuous photo-paintings « descendants of a baroque vanitas painting“. On a second level, discernible to the viewer only at second glance, dates, details of CO2 emission, and « Earth Overshoot Day“ refer to man‘s disastrous treatment of his environment.
Visitors to the exhibition might discover something in the colorful details, then read the relevant critical commentary and perhaps arrive at different experiences.
