This show, featuring Vik Muniz’s new 2008 series, Pictures of Garbage, will showcase a total of 40 works–most of which will be making their debut in Japan. Pictures of Garbage was made through a collaboration with the cleaning/waste collection staff at Jardim Gramacho–South America’s largest refuse disposal facility, located in Rio de Janeiro. The employees acted as models for the works, which were drawn over an area as large as two basketball courts, and then photographed. We hope you enjoy the witty social ingenuity of Muniz’s works.
