The Program aims to invite and commission individual artists or groups from different disciplines to immerse in and produce work which represents paradigmatic cases of current rural areas in different locations all over the peninsula.
The selected artists may commence their residencies on April 1 and remain until August 30, 2011 at the locations assigned to the program, turning into neighbors and locals for a while, from a village in Cantabria, to a village settlement in Extremadura, to the cereal steppes of Tierra de Campos or a fishing community in Galicia.
They will be provided with a local person of reference, a training workshop on intervention in rural areas, a work space and a place to live and resources for the production of work, they will be accompanied by representatives from the commissioner and the panel, and they will have a registration and documentation process for a publication and a final exhibition in the residency location.
All the information is now available in English, but remember: to apply to options a) and b) fluent spanish is required. But you can apply to option c) even if you don´t speak any spanish.
